“The evocation of late 50’s/early 60’s Gotham high style, The Lounge is bold without feeling overwrought. Sophisticated yet whimsical, both contemporary and historically reverent, The Lounge is a study in contrasts. The cantilevered structure provides visual interest and mystery, and its overall form and function aim at uniting style with comfort.”

TOKEN is a Brooklyn based studio that provides design, development and manufacturing solutions for architects, designers and curious individuals. Observation and a careful consideration of function, structural ingenuity, material dynamics and aesthetic coherence are all important characteristics of our practice.

    Autoboxes

During a collaborative workshop organized by dutch furniture company Arco, New Zealand-born Okay Studio member Andrew Haythornthwaite created ‘autoboxes.’ taking mechanical cues from the children’s toy jack-in-the-box. The project explores structures that can expand and contract with an easy gesture.
