My name is Brandon Bernard. I'm a graphic designer, storyboard and layout artist, and writer. I was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM, and lived in Los Angeles for 12 years. I'm currently in Austin, TX. "Design Intervention" is a virtual scrapbook of things that inspire me. Unless otherwise specified, the work here is not mine.

Spiff
This hypothetical brand and packaging was designed with the goal of marketing traditional men’s shaving products to a broader, contemporary male audience. Spiff takes an unconventional approach to branding men’s care products by conveying a positive and inclusive message. Rather than perpetuating unattainable hyper-masculine ideals, the brand encourages men to be comfortable with who they are. The 1950’s-inspired packaging features partial reveals, memorable opening ceremonies and sustainable design that extends the use of packaging beyond the shelf. Each piece in the set is packaged in a travel kit which converts to a drying rack for easy storage and comes with a drawstring pouch for compact travel on-the-go.

Happy New Year!
I apologize for the lack of posts lately. I’ve been feeling like a bit of a change here at Design Intervention. Tumblr has me sort of locked into the blog’s title, but I’ve decided that I want to post things here that fall outside of the “graphic design” category.
While I am still interested in graphic design, I find that my truer passions lie elsewhere. In fact, they’re kind of all over the place: music, art, writing, film… I want my blog here on Tumblr to better accomodate my varied interests. I’m not sure yet how this will ultimately manifest on the blog, but don’t be surprised if you start seeing stuff on here that isn’t what you’re used to seeing. I hope that all of the followers I’ve accrued over the past couple years will stay with me, but if graphic design inspiration was the only reason you followed in the first place, I completely understand.
As always — in fact, more than ever — I encourage anyone and everyone to interact with me through the “ask” feature on my blog. Likes and reblogs are always appreciated, too, but I would love to have a little more interaction with my Tumblr network.
I hope everyone had a great holiday, and is looking forward to 2013 as much as I am!
Cheers,
Brandon

YAWN means Yeah Awesome Wow Nice. YAWN is Annika and Sandra. We both studied graphic design and have been working together as freelance illustrators and graphic designers since 2009. We’re children of the 80s; we like illustrator, feltpens, watercolors, rainbow colors, handmade type, geometric forms and sneakers. We are influenced by music, pop, youth culture, fashion, 80s surf and skate design, high school movies (Brat Pack) and Hedi Slimane’s photography.

Ok, so Design Army is in DC and I REALLY need to go work for them. Do you think they need an inhouse makeup/hair/stylist?
I must concede I’m not an avid card player, but if any cards were to inspire me to start playing again, it is these Helveticards by UD+M. Designed with both the typophile and card player in mind, Helveticards are the beautiful, usable alternative to the traditional deck of cards. They are printed on premium quality, high gloss, white core playing card stock.
